You quickly hop out of bed and grab your sword, dressed only in your skivvies. The door continues to creak open, and a face peers in. Seeing that the element of surprised has been compromised, the intruders kicked the door open and flood the room. Three men enter, each garbed in thick black cloaks that obscure their faces, and wielding heavy maces. Assuming a defensive stance, you wait for them to engage. One of them steps forward, and you swing your sword at his lower body, connecting with his leg and knocking him to the floor. He utters a scream as he tumbles to the ground. The other two swarm you, and while you lock weapons with one of them, the other produces a dagger and stabs you in your stomach. You crumple to the floor, and, feeling a numbing sensation slowly spreading throughout your entire body from the point of penetration, fall unconscious.

You awaken later to find yourself lying in a horizontal position on top of a flat slab inside what you surmise is an underground cave. You feel very faint and dizzy, and too weak to move. Various torches adorn the walls, illuminating the cave. Soon, figures in black emerge from the shadows; one of them bearing the tome you took from the tavern. He points at you, eyes burning red, and begins reading from it. The language is unrecognizable to you. The other figures join in the chant, and suddenly a massive blue swirling portal opens before you. A large hand emerges from the portal, and, grabbing you, pulls you in. You are never seen again.
