James is a recent graduate from Humber College, having received a post-graduate degree in Marketing Management. He currently is interning at Arts & Crafts, Canada’s largest independent music label, as an administrative and digital marketing intern, and seizes every opportunity afforded to chip in creatively. Long term goal is to seek a position on the creative side of the marketing industry.
Before coming to Humber to study marketing and business, James spent seven years studying philosophy at the University of Toronto and Western, gaining a B.A. and an M.A. in the process. From this experience, James refined his strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills through extensive study of the history of ideas – a background that is of immense value to his present goals. The ability to analyze and break down information, come to reasonable conclusions through rigorous logic, and present arguments in a clear and persuasive manner will serve him well in his future marketing career.
A fearless public speaker and excellent communicator, James’ three year experience as a Teacher’s Assistant, three summers as a Camp Counsellor, and five years as a high school/university debater has given him a nuanced understanding of how to effectively engage an audience of any size on a myriad of topics. These skills will serve him well in a position where public presentations are the norm, not the exception. Right now you can find him practicing his craft every first and third Saturday of the month at the Art Gallery of Ontario, where he leads guided tours that cover a wide selection of stunning and historic works of art.
Possessing a strong background in analytics, James’ experience in his formal studies of statistical and inductive reasoning at the University of Toronto and Western has given him the ability to effectively synthesize and present large swaths of information.
Creatively inclined, James has a strong grasp on music production, photoshop, and copywriting. In his spare time he enjoys writing and recording electronic music as Maximal, and also enjoys reading, swimming, playing beer league softball, and making guacamole.
